Been through a hugely lazy patch lately.
This seems to have been saved by a new source of motivation, I’ve been doing paste-ups of large (A0) photocopies of my drawings with some friends. ITS REALLY FUN! This is an idea I’ve been working on late this evening but have to stop because I need to go to bed in order to wake up in time for work in the morning. I’M EXCITED TO FINISH THOUGH. FIIIIINNNNNAAAAAALLLLLY! Imagine that on your local building wall. YES!
Ha! Tonight I was feeling a bit wreckless and after getting home pretty late decided a bit of graffiti experimentation was just the pickmeup I deserved.
So I was not toooo enthusiastic about putting this up cause its not too impressive, but its my first attempt at ‘street art’ and supposed that it was worth a post for that reason. I feel bad about ruining buildings with novice spraywork but hey! You gotta start somewhere. It’s just too bad that it didn’t pick-me-up as much as I’d hoped…and it wasn’t as thrilling as I’d hoped too. ILL STOP WHINING NOW OK.
After the ol’ exhibition at Somewhere finished I started fretting about all these left over drawings ide have and what I was going to do with them, I considered just hanging them up on buildings and in odd places and leave them for people to take/destroy, but I wound up getting a better offer!
All the dregs of the first show are having a cheeky second show at the Blackcat in fitzroy! (which is where I work…) Hooray Hooruh! So go and check it out and buy shit and drink cider and beer and coffee and all dat jazzy fun stuff.
I cant believe that it has almost been a whole bloomin year! I started designing some necklace shapes and very very slowly gathered materials and methods to make some necklaces…this was ages ago, as in, November 2009. Anyway these are the fruits of my labour, and I’ve now run outta stock and need to repeat the whole thing awl over again, except maybe I’ll be extra good and come up with some new ones.

She just finished a course in tattooing “and I was her first”.
I write in my journal the same thing everyday “Dear Diary, I’m in love, I’m a 19 year old who has found true love for the first time, in a tattoo on my forearm. Life is blisssssss”

Not sure if I ever mentioned on here the most beloved treasure of my life..so now’s the time. I own a ring, and this ring was created by Polly VanDerGlas. And said ring holds two of my teeth in it, they were adult teeth that got removed for orthodontics, and I had this amazing ring made for my 18th birthday. WOW COOL STORY NINA
But the story continues!! I recently went back home to visit my folks and to collect my baby teeth. My Mum, like some, kept them all. Anyway, amongst this collection lived the roots to those adult teeth I was talking about. You see, Polly had to cut the amaaaaazing roots away from the rest of the tooth when she made the ring, and she kindly gave them back to me.
AAAND I’m meeting up with Polly on Thursday (tomorrow) to discuss how she will be able to make these roots into stud earings!

So I have two friends, and one is named Max and one is named Shane, and they are in a band together, and their band is named ‘The Big Empty’, and they came over the other day to discuss album artwork and they wound up just picking an existing piece, and I turned it into a cover design. So, as it turns out, the exhibition isn’t as far away as I thought. It goes up next Wednesday! The whole theme sort of revolves around people and how we’re pretty simple and similar..in our own weird and unique ways. The title is ‘We’re Only Mammal’. I’m pretty excited. Hopefully I’ll be able to display some of the works in the actual shop…I can’t really think much right now so I’m not going to say anything else about it except to go and buy stuff!
Its a little bit hard to read, the address is level two of Royal Arcade, off Little Collins street, and it begins on the 2nd of June!
So here’s the scoop guys, I moved to Melbourne around three months ago, and since then I got a pretty sweet job at a bar in Fitzroy but it’s kinda been taking over my life.
I’ve managed to gather my shit enough to hold an exhibition in the city at a clothes shop/ gallery space called ‘Somehwere’ on the 2nd of June, yayayayay! Only downside is that I cant have an opening. I know. Devastating, some nonsense about not being able to move out all the clothes and shelves, which is totally ok and understandable. Just unfortunate. Anyway, thats just a cute little photo to prove that I’ve been doing a leeeeetle bit of work. I’ll talk more about the exhibition when its a bit closer
